If you would like to work with your librarian liaison to schedule a research instruction for your class, tailored to your class needs/assignments, please complete this Library Research Instruction Request Form for Faculty. Sending the form at least two weeks before your desired date/time is appreciated!
The Library also offers a variety of drop-in workshops to help students learn academic research strategies, resources, and more. Workshops are open to all current Mt. SAC students. Topics covered include:
Students can sign up for drop-in F2F on-campus workshops, Zoom workshops, or asynchronous Canvas workshops.
The Library offers two credit courses -
Library 1 (LIBR 1) - Information Resources and Research Methods (available online & on-campus) 3.0 units; CSU/UC transferable
Course Description: Research methods for academic research and critical thinking that support information competency. Topics include finding, evaluating, and documenting information using traditional and electronic resources.
Library 1A (LIBR 1A) - Introduction to Library Research (available online & on-campus) 1.0 unit; CSU/UC transferable
Course Description: Research strategies for academic research and critical thinking. Topics include search strategies, citation of sources, and use and evaluation of library resources.
