NAIS courses will begin to be offered at Mt. SAC. However, students may be researching topics about Native American or Indigenous communities for many different courses at the College, with a focus on resources written by Native and Indigenous authors. This guide is intended to help students no matter what course they are enrolled in who are researching a NAIS topic.
Mt. SAC is located on Tongva lands/territories. They are the traditional caretakers of Tovaangar (the Los Angeles Basin, So. Channel Islands), what we now call home and where Mt. SAC is geographically situated. Much respect to the Honuukvetam (Ancestors), ‘Ahiihirom (Elders) and ‘Eyoohiinkem (our relatives/relations) past, present and emerging. For more information about land acknowledgments, read Mt. SAC Library's Beyond Land Acknowledgements Research Guide. For more information on Indigenous perspectives on geography, please visit the Decolonial Atlas.
