The AVMA is the nation's leading advocate for the veterinary profession. Representing more than 100,000 members, we protect, promote and advance the needs of all veterinarians and those they serve.

The mission of the California Registered Veterinary Technicians Association is to elevate the veterinary profession through the strengthening of the veterinary health care team. We seek to promote the role of the Registered Veterinary Technician by broadening our skills, knowledge, and professionalism and by securing representation of Registered Veterinary Technicians in the regulatory and legislative arena. The California Registered Veterinary Technicians Association strives to increase public awareness of the role of Registered Veterinary Technicians in veterinary medicine and our place in enhancing the welfare of our animal patients.

NAVTA is a dynamic community of Credentialed Veterinary Technicians dedicated to advancing the profession of veterinary nursing through advocacy, awareness, and professional development.

The California Veterinary Medical Association is committed to serving our membership and community through innovative leadership and to improving animal and human health in an ethically and socially responsible manner.

AAVSB is an association of veterinary medicine regulatory boards whose membership includes licensing bodies in 62 jurisdictions, including all of the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and nine Canadian provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan.

The Veterinary Medical Board (VMB) has been regulating veterinary medicine in the State of California since 1893. The VMB is a governmental agency whose mission is the protection of California consumers and their animals through the regulation of veterinary medicine. The VMB fulfills its mission by developing, maintaining, and enforcing professional standards including licensing veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians (RVTs), veterinary assistant controlled substances permit holders (VACSPs) and veterinary premises.

The AVMA Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) accredits veterinary technology programs. All AVMA CVTEA-accredited programs in veterinary technology must meet the Standards of Accreditation of the CVTEA to ensure the quality of the educational experience and the assessment of student knowledge and skills.
