"Latin America encompasses Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries, including all of South America as well as Mexico, Central America, and islands of the Caribbean. Latin American history saw colonization by the Spaniards and Portuguese, from the 15th through the 18th century, as well as independence movements in the early 19th century" -- From the History website.
This guide will help you find materials related to Latin American history, including books, articles, videos, primary sources, and credible websites. Let's start with an overview of the general research process (in the box below).
The research process is not a linear process in which you must complete step one before moving on to step two or three. You don’t need to put off writing your paper until you’ve gathered all of your sources, in fact, you may want to start writing as soon as possible and adjust your search, thesis statement, and writing as you continue to work through the research process. You can (and should!) revisit the steps in the research process as many times as needed to create a finished product.
