Librarians have participated in student equity initiatives since 2015. Currently, by means of student equity librarians have been able to develop innovative instructional support focused on student success. The Mt. SAC Library Student Equity Team opperates collaboratively to provide information competency outreach and teaching to the campus, with an emphasis to streamline support to equity populations.
Student Equity, SE, is part of the Mt. San Antonio College campus culture. Mt. SAC has invested in equity since the 1990s and is committed to providing the same opportunities to all students through equity and student success initiatives.
Mt. SAC Library adopts a similar vision and practice. Through the SE activities B.10 and B.11, librarians are actively addressing inequity on campus. Library student equity activities are to promote access, learning, and success. Textbook access, Sunday added hours, and direct SE information competency outreach work together to increase library use.
Goal 1. Increase awareness of Mt. SAC Library information competency workshops through outreach.
Goal 2. Provide alternative information competency library engagement through strategic outreach actions. (Engagement actions: 1. Embedded Librarian at specific centers and programs on campus 2. Pop-up Library 3. Campus Event Outreach).
